Three things that were consistent about the Sundays in my youth were church, candy, and good food. Most Sunday mornings, my grandmother would put on a pot of coffee, stirring in sugar and hazelnut creamer, before she would start our breakfast – usually bacon or sage sausage with biscuits and eggs. While we showered she laid out our Sunday outfits.

Often, we – my siblings, cousins, and I – were restless during the services that seemed to never end. My grandmother was a candy lady – always carrying around some small token of sweetness.  She would pass us each a piece of candy to keep us quiet. Our favorite, and her regular candy, was Werther's original hard candies.

This candle is an ode to the Sunday mornings filled with love at Nana's house. It carries the scent of her coffee, her breakfast and her candy.
